agreed, I wonder if there is any concern with using galvanized, you hear some many mixed opinions on it

What would those concerns be?

welding galvanized metal gives off a poison gas, you need to wear a mask when doing that, I have heard different opinions on weather or not using galvanized in a smoker or a cooker like this or the ones people use for trash can turkeys heat up enough to release the offending poison, on another note some grill manufacturers use galvanized grates in their grills, so who knows

I didnt know that...

But, how could fumes harm the meat? Wouldnt the actual metal need to be present in order to cause an issue? Clearly Im not an expert but I guess I just dont see how it would be an issue.

the zinc burning off is the issue I believe, it coats the food is the concern, we used galvanized pipe in our smoker, haven't had any issues yet, except for the constant twitching
