I dunno, hard to see on the bag, looks like potato rolls to me, I think I'm going to make these tomorrow but add my twist to them

nevermind my previous comment, i looked at the photo again and he's using king's hawaiian bread which is a sweet bread. i used to love eating that bread when i was a kid but it wouldn't fit with my current nutritional goals.

that recipe has a lot of potential though. just needs some home made stuff instead of all that name brand packaged crap.

let's begin

So I gathered some supplies

8575263863_17134e6ecf_z.jpg

I dumped in a pound and a half of ground beef, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup bbq sauce and a 1/2 pound of jack cheddar cheese

8576359776_628d1610df_z.jpg

I mixed it well

8576360338_f95d4cf547_z.jpg

and portioned them out to about 2 oz meatballs and set them in a muffin tray and stuck them in the oven at 400 for 45 min

8575265491_58dfc44cf7_z.jpg

while that was baking, I sliced up two onions and got that sauteing in butter with some salt and pepper

8576361066_c00d8d16b3_z.jpg

after about 10 minute the onions were well caramelized

8576361602_b29c22fb43_z.jpg

30 minutes later the meatballs were done

8575266701_09bb0def08_z.jpg

I didn't have any buns, so I made some biscuits instead, I gathered my supplies

8576362310_b53c08bee5_z.jpg

I dumped 5 cups of flour and a 1/4 cup of baking powder and sugar into a bowl

8576362720_baf4b5a7ed_z.jpg

I took my grater and grated a half pound of butter into the flour base

8576363124_177be3ef00_z.jpg

I mixed the butter in well by hand so that there was nothing larger than a pea

8576363574_97016f561c_z.jpg

I poured 2 and a half cups of milk into the flour

8575268623_920f8e0625_z.jpg

and mixed it well by hand

8575268967_4d01e632cc_z.jpg

I set a piece of wax paper on my cookie tray and sprayed some veg oil on it

8575269259_8f94dbe3a3_z.jpg

I took half the dough and rolled it out onto the tray

8575269633_80df40a1a2_z.jpg

I spaced the meatballs out

8575270203_cb76d9c4b8_z.jpg

and set a dollop of BBQ sauce on top

8576366262_12b2220bdb_z.jpg

and sprinkled some jack cheddar cheese on it

8576366858_0531c28c0d_z.jpg

I ladled some onions onto each one

8575271687_027a4b737b_z.jpg

I rolled out the other half of the dough

8575272127_e18010cec5_z.jpg

and covered the meatballs

8576367942_7fe924546b_z.jpg

I took my knife and scored the dough

8576368308_ae5a7e007a_z.jpg

and baked it for 30 minutes at 400 degrees

8576368708_b1223daafe_z.jpg

I trimmed off the excess and cut it up into pieces

8575273529_809fcaa6fa_z.jpg

it was damn fine

8575274141_f21894d828_z.jpg

you can use buns like they do, I just prefer to make everything from scratch as much as I can, I will probably add some more bbq sauce on top of the meatballs next time, it was a little dry, but was still great.
