I did a potato cage last year, and it worked great! I just drove a few metal fence posts into the ground, and surrounded them with chicken wire. I planted the seed potatoes in a mixture of compost and old straw bales.

Nice I might try that with my left over seed potatos. I just started 2 sets of tires. I have 3 more sets left to fill. Dropped them in tonight, Prob keep the cold frames over them till plants touch it.

how many and how deep? I can get them under there easily. Maybe I should do the potato cage and transplant these now, I doubt anything has started yet

you need at least 2 if not 3 tires on top. The idea is to let the plant grow 6 to 8 inches above the tire, put a new one on and cover it with soil, let it shoot up 6 to 8 above the tire and repeat. It will send shoots out as it grows up
