I used hay last year too, but I had two puppies that got into my hay bale potatoes, but I still managed to get a few out of it. The dogs are gone this year, so I'm going to try round two with the hay bales. They were growing great last year until the puppy incident.

My dogs love the hay too! They think it is a bed I built just for them!
