Im really brainstorming this , being from the moist pacific northwest I want to experiment with a wood fired dehydrator , ive seen a few concepts online and it would be the greatest thing to combine it with a smoker.

they put the rack system on top and I'd want to steal smoke from the chimney for meat. sounds too good to be true but it might work .

JayWill, where are you? I'm in the NW too, figured solar wouldn't work. I've seen a few ideas with using a heating coil that plugs into a standard light socket for heat.

Im in BC, Canada. there are some pretty ingenious homemade rigs out there, in the end electric will probably be the best bet.
