Thanks earthenstead, that makes really good sense. I have had trouble finding information on how much of a sand filtwr to add. I know that I reallly need to thingsfrom the sand filtwr, the ability to trap whatever solids make it past my swirl filter and a great deal of surface area to allow bacteria tolive and break down amonia and nitrites. My question now is how to set it up so I can effectovely backflush built up solids from time to time. Maybe I should just buy some of those solid filtration bags to have coming off of the swirl filters. They can trap whatever solids make it past the swirl filters and are easy to take off and clean out.
