You'll want to start warming your chili up as well, it doesn't need to be hot since it will cook some in the oven but you don't want to put it on there cold. If you use one can of chili the chips stay a bit crispier. I personally like to use 2 cans and it makes it more of a meal you eat with a fork.

Dump your bag of chips evenly over a baking sheet. Cover with a generous amount of cheese.

Bake for 10-15 minutes on med/low heat, or until the cheese on top is thoroughly melted.

While it's cooking, dice up you avocado.

When it's ready, pull it out of the oven and top with avocado, diced tomatoes or salsa, sour cream etc.
