The wife and I were trying to figure out what to do with the two venison steaks we defrosted yesterday. She said what about venison tacos? I thought that was a great idea and immediately began trying to figure out how to make flour tortillas.

Here's the recipe I worked with:

3 C flour

1tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/3 C butter

1C hot water

I cut the recipe in half since I've been eating too many bagels, biscuits and pretzel bites lately

I started by mixing the dry ingredients in a bowl. Then I added the softened butter and mixed it as best I could.

I then slowly started pouring the water into the mix.

You dont want it too wet, but if it is you can always add more flour later

After you add the water, form a nice ball with the dough mixture.

You can cover teh bowl and let it sit for 10-30 minutes.

Since we had the venison in the slow cooker, I just sat it on that.

After the dough gets a chance to rest, you can check it to see if it needds more flour. If it has a wet consistency you can add flour and then begin rolling it into 12 smaller dough balls. Flour up your rolling surface and your rolling pin and press the dough balls into a small circle.

From there just roll out and thin the circles.

Take each of the tortillas and place them on an ungreased griddle. (Cast Iron is best)

I didnt have one so I just used the skillet on the stove.

Turn the tortilla when little brown blisters form.

Serve warm and enjoy.
