Well, my beets finally started to grow. The chard is not happening and I think I will just pull them out. Peppers are slow in growing but they look healthy, so who knows.

I already have learned a few things that I will do different next time. I wont companion plant, each box will be its own. I will also have a better seed plan - not starting them as early or at the same time like I did this year.

Tomatoes and carrots

Beets and radishes

IMG00782-20120714-1703.jpg

Brocolli

IMG00780-20120714-1703.jpg

Brusell Sprouts

IMG00778-20120714-1703.jpg

Peppers, with a couple extra tomatoes in there

Sunflowers

And some randoms

The asparagus will take a few years so I tossed in a brussel sprout in that box for the hell of it

I have to weedwhip that grass out of there at some point. I would like to mulch it, but funds are low for this thing as of now. Maybe next year.

There are some moles down there too so Im going to have my old man show me how to set the traps for them.

It just doesnt seem to be all that beneficial. What I think will work better is this. Take a 2x4 box. The first week plant the first two squares that are side by side. One week later, the next, and the next, and the next. Make sense?

This stuff is already so close to begin with and I think having a staggered planting scheme within one box would be easier to track and possible better on the soil.

I also do not think I will do tomatoes or peppers in the boxes next year. I am going to fill cloth shopping bags with potting soil, bury them, and plant the tomatoes/peppers in them. Thats what I did with the sunflowers and look at them.
