Here's my first attempt at a garden. I was going to do a square foot garden like all of you on here but I had my dad helping me and ended up going with his idea for now. If I enjoy the garden like I think I will then I plan on starting a SFG next year. I think for now what I have will be a lot of tun though.

First we found a spot for the garden, right on the side of the house where I don't have anything going on.

Next we used railroad ties to build the garden. Bought some plants as well. Not doing seeds this year.

Finally we filled everything in with real nice topsoil (my father makes his own) and planted everything.

We planted tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green bell peppers, eggplant, string beans and cucumbers. I have two planters on my deck that I'll be doing hot peppers in. That's it for now, I'll post more pictures when things grow a bit.

I have two reasons for making such a small garden. 1. because I'm new at this and it will keep things simple and 2. Its just for my fiancee and I.

Looks awesome LB, everyone starts somewhere, just be aware though your peppers and eggplant are going to need warm temps to produce, if you don't get anything, don't get discouraged, no one ever got arrested for killing a tomato plant

well maybe in NJ ;)

KVR, how warm we talking? My dad always had real good luck with his eggplant, and I had a few pepper plants last year that produced pretty well. We get pretty hot summers here so I think I'll be ok? That spot gets about 8+ hours of sun a day.

Oh and its probably some ridiculous fine for killing a tomato plant here in NJ. LMFAO

80's, biggest hurdle is germination which is best at 80-90 soil temp, but you are using seedlings, so you should be fine
