I have looked at growing mushrooms on and off for a few years now. Had some friends in British Columbia who did it on a commercial scale in shipping containers for the Japanese market.
Well, sometimes the timing just works and it seems it is the right time again.

As you can see there is a need for more production either at the local, regional or National level. Costa Rica produces a lot of coffee and I have a great contact for what is called feed grade coffee. Basically the B grade that is used as filler for cows. Would need to be boiled though. Which is not very hard. lol
There is a seminar next month which I will send someone to attend. I do not like leaving the house that much. Wife sounds interested in going though. Spores are included with the seminar fees. That makes it easier to start and get contacts for spores eh.

The equipment is super basic overall if you have access to spores. I have contacts with the first Starbucks opening as well as MacDonalds for grinds. Since it will have already been boiled. And that whole recycle things that tree huggers here like.
I have all the packaging equipment from another business and have a wine press that just needs some welding.
This video gives the general outline of the process.

Labor is roughly $10-20 US a day. Most all the business can be done open air down here.
Will be setting up a indoor rack system and a really large outdoor grow area.
Should be a fun project. Anyone want me to update things as they move along?
