Alright K, here is what Im thinking....

White oak for the boards. I know a guy north of me who will sell it to me for half the cost of cedar. Its a pretty hearty wood and I think it will work. Plus its half the cost.

For the soil. I called a guy south of me and he will sell me a dirt, peat, and manure mix for $21 cu. yd, which includes tax. I will get probably two cu yds of it for my 6 3x3 boxes.

What do you think?

I cant find anywhere around me that sells loam. That is very disconcerting.

How much mulch did you need for that setup?

no one around you hauls top soil? We used 3 or 4 yards of mulch around the beds.

All of the centers around me are geared towards urban stuff.

I did just do a search for some places south of me and I may have found a good one.

You think it would have taken 5 yards to fill all of your boxes?
