I'd do it, just bake off the beds first

How long do you think they should sit before I plant in them?

I would fill the beds and cover them with black plastic and let it bake in the sun for about 2 weeks to kill any weed seeds

Its funny, I was thinking about doing this all next weekend, so they would sit like that for about that long anyway.

Im getting 16 eight foot boards. Two yards of dirt/peat/manure mix. Probably find some cardboard and plastic. After I get seeds, I think this will all cost me less than $150. Not bad.

At the end of the year I figure I will just dump all the soil out in the compost pile and next year be able to do it with only what I pull from my compost pile.

It will likely sit for almost two months.

I was going to just use 1x6 boards. Thoughts on that ?
