Well the cooker was a success. The cooler I used was about the same size as the one in the vid. The water that came from my tap was around 140-143 so I just added 1 pot of boiling water and threw the steak in at 153 for 40 min. Tasted pretty good. You only need about half a can of foam, I got that shit all over my floor. I just got back from being out for a while and left the water in the cooler. It was 129 so it holds heat pretty well.

This is great, I actually have the same cooler, and I think I only used it once. It can still be used for normal use too if I need it. Is the insulating foam in the lid to help keep the temps stable?

I think so since heat rises. I wonder if you foam up the sides and bottom of the cooler if it would keep beer colder longer?

If you can get your hands on a thick styrofoam cooler, I think that would do the trick as well. You know the kind that labs and medical facilities use to keep samples cold. It's about 2" thick all the way around and does a better job keeping my beer cold in the summer than any of my coleman or igloo coolers - I would think it would be similar with heat.
