the past month or so has been hectic and we have been getting dumped on with rain on the days I have been trying to get the garden in. The weather looks like it is going to cooperate so we started on it yesterday. I had to catch up on some paperwork yesterday morning so my wife started working on weeding the beds. She asked me if everything could be pulled, not thinking, I said yes.

So when I got back to the house, she had made good progress

the horseradish is coming in good

I went to check on my lower beds, and was like, uh honey, where's my rhubarb?

Rhubarb?

um yeah, my 8 rhubarb plants

found them!

looks like no strawberry/rhubarb pie this year :(

I'm trying a different mixture this year, loam/alpaca poop/mulch.

I'm doing a mixture of 4 parts loam, 3 parts poop, 3 parts mulch, which is giving me a nice fluffy soil mixture

so today we'll be hauling soil all day, with the 4 wheeler of course

I've been hauling manure and dirt for a few weeks now as time and weather allow. The bed of my pickup hates me now I'm sure of it.

Are you just getting to things a little late or is this the usual start of your growing season?

Oh no! Are you serious? I can't believe the crazy weather we've had this year. EVERYTHING is just "off". My last beans I planted last week actually all came up and look really good but I'm actually afraid to be too hopeful after all the dead plants this year. If these beans die I guess I have time for one more planting but would have to be bush instead of poles. It sounds like you got more rain than we did.....

same here still, 4 days of rain, followed by 2 days of 80 degree weather, my yard is still a mud pit, normally this time of year the pig area is dry and hard packed
