I dont know if anyone else is interested, but I've decided to take Geoff Lawton's online PDC.
It's expensive, but if I can dovetail this into another career path it will be well worth it. I've always wanted to do something that I love and interests me. I know permaculture and food forests are gaining a small bit of attention in the US and I would love to be able to carve out a niche for myself. Hopefully I can make this work and a certificate from Geoff Lawton goes a long way in this field.
Anyone interested, this is the last day to register and the course is almost filled up. They will be closing registration at midnight USA PST.

The Permaculture Design Course consists of a weekly video followed by a discussion. At the end of the week there is a quiz that must be passed to make sure you understand the concepts.
You must keep taking the quiz until you pass before you can move on. You can get help in the discussion from both Geoff and his staff and the other "classmates".
There is a total of 72 hours of video. The content is based around Bill Mollison's Permaculture Design Manual.
To graduate and get a certificate from Geoff Lawton, you will need to do a complete permaculture landscape design at the end of the course.
Once I graduate I would be a certified Permaculture Designer. I would be qualified to teach, design and consult. Although a certification is not required to practice permaculture design, the certificate does legitimize a business. Hopefully I can do this at minimum for friends/family and as a small second income. Eventually I would like to do this full time.
So far Seattle and Houston are two major cities that have invested in creating public food forests. I think that as awareness of permaculture grows, there will be opportunities in the field.

Really cool!
I was hoping the course was going to be a bit cheaper given it is online. It makes sense given amount of work he will have to put in on the grading, etc.
If you get a sense of how many people are in the course it would be interesting to know. I'd like to satify my curiosity.
Enjoy the course, I am sure you'll learn a ton.
