this is pretty awesome
GROCERY:
There are three primary reasons why customers will choose shopping at The Farmery versus other retailers. First, The Farmery offers consumers multiple ways to learn about food that can’t be found at other grocers. By enhancing the educational role we can play in the consumers’ lives, we can deepen the relationship between our customers, The Farmery, and their food. Second, The Farmery offers customers the ability to enjoy multi-sensory and discovery experiences while shopping that are unique to The Farmery. Finally, The Farmery offers consumers the best opportunity to purchase the freshest locally made foods that are unavailable at other food retailers.
CAFE:
The Café offers a hot bar, salad bar, coffee and juice bar. The Cafe will have a casual, fun atmosphere. Cafe offerings will vary with the season because many of the items are sourced from the same producers that supply the grocery. The living walls will surround the seating area of the cafe and brighten the room with color and energy. Eating at The Farmery Cafe is a pleasant, multi-sensory experience. Guests will also know the food they eat is the same food that is growing around them. To cut down on staff needed, the Cafe will not offer table service. The Cafe will stretch and repurpose some of the perishable ingredients we carry. Misshapen, bruised, or unsold products can be prepared and sold as a part of a finished dish. The Café plays an important role in eliminating the Farmery’s food waste by repurposing imperfect items from the grocery as well allowing the Farmery to accept harvests from local farmers that might be turned away due to an imperfect appearance.
FARM:
The farm portion of the Farmery resides on the second level. Vertical Crops are grown in hanging panels that reside on a track above the shopping area so that customers can see the food growing as they make their purchase decisions. Strawberries, greens, lettuces and herbs are grown in the hanging panels while many different varieties of gourmet mushrooms are growing in the shipping containers. The containers are spaced apart so that the customers can see the crops that are growing on the outside of the container grow. Crops are grown on the inside and outside of the containers. The farm is designed to immerse the customer in a living ecosystem where they are not only witnessing but can also participate in the growth and harvest of their food.
