Hello all, long time no see. I'm finally getting around to planning to build some raised beds to grow some fruits and vegetables, and since by calculations I'll be needing about a cubic yard of potting material, I was looking into using "biosolids". In my area there is a company called TAGRO that takes and treats the sewage, and works some sort of wizardry to make it safe for vegetables - or so they claim. I've been reading about it all day, and there's mixed feelings about it and if it's safe to use. It seems like the old guard doesn't trust it, and I've read from some people who work in sewage treatment that claim they'd use it with no concern. The potting soil is rated "Class A" by the EPA, and EPA claims they've been used on farms and gardens for many years. Some think these things get "Class A" rating by diluting the turds to with other organic material to make it usable.

Now I've used this on my yard last year (the topsoil), and it definitely helped that. My neighbors been using it for many years on his lawn and has a nice lawn. He also has a good sized garden area, but his wife is not down with the turd soil. What say you all?

Oh and I guess my biggest reason for consideration is that it's only $35 for a cubic yard

Hahah I've been good. Apparently 2 kids cost a whole lot more than one so it put any plans on hold. Tools, materials, etc all cost money haha

the way it works around here is the local sewer companies pay a composting company to take their waste, local septic pumping companies pay to dump their loads as well.

There is so much waste that is composted that the compost companies have to pay to get it hauled to the landfills, so instead of having to pay to get it dumped they spray the local farm fields for free and people can go and pick up how ever much that they want.

The compost companies already made their money on the front end. The compost is just a waste product they need to dispose of.

So locally it is being used and most people don't even know it, I would not have a issue using it.
