Good Morning,

I have a 100'  X  100' garden plot. For the last several year the plot was 50' X 50' and I have used soaker hoses for irrigation.  With the increased size, I want to change watering systems. I have my own well and can pump about 5 gallons/min with an air lift pump to a 55 gallon barrel. I pump from the bottom of the barrel to the garden with a pressure pump and by pumping both to the garden and back into the barrel, I can control both pressure and volume. I would like to use stakes to hold up some kind of watering system for each row and keep it up 3 or 4 inches above the ground. I now use a garden hose to feed the soaker hoses, one row at a time and that is ok. I am thinking about drip line with emitters or drip tape or maybe small pvc with holes. I would like to hear some thoughts on this from folks that have done it. So what say ye?? Thanks.

Double Harvest has had good results with setting up bucket drip irrigation systems in Kenya

could easily modify it to run off one barrel, shut off valves can be added in the main line so you can get more specific on what areas you want to irrigate

Another example of one tank using gravity to irrigate

Just run your spikes along your rows to raise up your tubing if you want

there are some good examples of building PVC irrigation systems, but that would get costly with a garden that size and I would be concerned about the PVC degrading

My rain barrel is in a good spot for doing this. It will at least work for the raised beds.
