Maybe some of you have heard of her. She approaches food storage in a pretty simple way...the first link is for her book that is a pdf file you can save if you like...the other is her presentation/education piece on Youtube...hope you find it worth while.

I should say a couple of things...1) she is all about pressure canning...2) the 1st of her 9 videos she links a lot of things to her respective faith...I am not pushing any religion...as she get's going she puts forward good information on building up a long term food supply...and I think she is kind of funny.
...the 3rd video is where the 'how to' starts.

I really like where she does her top 10 list.
We have found this to be pretty simple and effective...and not a lot of money when you do it a bit at a time.
We are into pressure canning. We took a look at a lot of different canners and talked to people who did it every year and decided to by an All-American. Totally pleased with it. Planning to get a second to increase volume.

There is a LDS Cannery (later day saints) about an hour from here. They used to let you work 4 hours on a Saturday then buy up to $250 of goods.
I heard talk they stopped doing this and were closed to the public...
...I called them up and asked...the lady was helpful...she said that they are open to the public and you do not have to 'work', just come in and get what you need...she also said that the 'public' buys more than members. The big things are the #10 cans, which are a 30yr shelf life when stored optimally, and the powdered milk in mylar bags good for up to 10 years.
Will plan a trip soon.
