Rather than just doing a medicinal thread, I thought I would just do one for the wild things I gather both for food and medicine.

Mullein.

This is an excellent plant for chest colds, bronchitis, coughs and asthma. It is generally good for mucous membranes. The flowers soaked in oil makes a soothing ear ache remedy.

My dad or grandpaw, don't remember which told me that if you nibble on the leaves it will take care of the upset stomach and nausea. Never tried it with the nausea but it did work with the upset stomach.

Thanks green. I've been taking pictures, but haven't had much Time to put them together. I'm awfully excited that some of my ginseng is flowering this year!

Nice thread and excellent photography! Are your chanterelles up yet? We found them right by the house this year already! Last year I threw all the rinse water the mushrooms were in up under a big oak tree. This year there are chanterelles there I'm wondering if they were there all the time and we didn't see them... Or did my spores take ahold in one years time? I have no idea, just glad they grow there.

This is mullein in flower. The flowers bloom a few at a time. The whole plant is at least six feet tall.
