Hi guys! I stumbled across a website the other day about how I could make some money on my homestead and I wanted to get an idea of what you all thought about it. The basic concept is, I rent a spot on my land for an RV'er to stop for the night, week, month in exchange for whatever fee I deem fair to charge. OR.....and this is the kicker, I can offer them reduced rates in exchange for labor and let them stay for free. I can always use help milking the cows! 🙂 So what do you think? Here's the link if you want to check it out. http://www.RVwithME.com

Thanks for the tip! I checked this out and it does some amazing. My only issue would be the intimacy of this idea. I realize it always comes down to personal preference. I was thinking about the RVwithMe idea because it still allows the guest and host their own privacy. Speaking from personal experience, even when it comes to staying with family, there's always the issue of everybody needing their own space. This way they just park their camper and from what I understand, most RV's are self-contained and can be without any hookups for a period of time. So I get to meet wonderful new people and show them another side of life. 🙂 I just wanted to throw the idea out there, just to see what my fellow homesteaders thought. I'm always open minded and on the look out for new ideas. lol
These sound like good options; I would caution you to check with your local zoning office before you enact anything though.
having previously worked in our local zoning office, I can tell you that most administrators get a bad rap but they're really out to help you. Ordinances are enacted to protect the whole of the community, and generally things go a lot smoother, with a lot more guidance if there is honest communication up front. Just my two cents.
