I would be interested in learning more about the downsides. I would be surprised if we did things intensively enough to warrant some of those concerns. I think 2 goats or 2 pigs, some garden space, and a barn in the middle sounds pretty simple.

agreed, or just put the animals on a down hill slope so everything would drain away from the food

Depending on the solar aspect and slope direction you could also place a small swale so everything soaks into the landscape.

Fruit trees on the swales. Barn is shaded in summer, exposed to the sun in winter.

I would have totally done our house like this if I had seen it before, imagine making one of the wedges a pond, each wedge could be divided further.

I want a pizza farm :(

Any way you could do a partial pizza around your current barn? I think having paths/access to each slice would be the most beneficial part. I am having to snowshoe out to my barn now and I was day dreaming/having nightmares of needed to clear out a bunch of random paths if we had a couple different kinds of animals out in the meadow.
