I couldn't find a thread for this but if I'm missing it please put me in the right place.

As I sit here with a bit of the flu, bored out of my mind but forcing myself to rest, I started thinking about alternative remedies.

For those that are having chest colds, a hot bath with a ginger compress is very helpful. When I say hot, I mean HOT! You want to force your body into a fever like state. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A HIGH FEVER! A fever is your bodies way of fighting infection.

For the compress you can use powdered ginger or fresh. You can use paper towels or cheese cloth. Two paper towels on an equivalent size cloth.

Cover the center about 6" x 6" with the ginger and fold all the edges over so that the ginger is covered and secured by the cloth.

While in the bath put the cloth on your chest and lay a hot wet wash cloth over it. Keep changing the cloth so that it stays hot. You will feel the heat of the ginger getting into your pores. While you are soaking and using the ginger compress, be sure to have a large glass of liquid. A great bronchial tea is a combination of equal parts coltsfoot and mullein.

Are you using the root or another part of the plant? I ordered some ginger seeds this year along with a few others. Gonna try my hand at raising some herbs.

Yep ginseng.

I had the first plants come up last year from the seeds I planted three years ago.

Root.

You can grow I talkie potatoes from root cuttings. I have had mixed success with it. It is such a great medicine.

Ginseng is big business here in Wisconsin. Have heard up to $60,000 an acre for ginseng. Several problems with propagation though, 2 years to maturity, must keep snow off in spring. China is paying large for Wisconsin ginseng.
