usually winter is when I experiment with different things, whether it be food preservation, production etc. You folks have any goals you want to accomplish this winter?

Looking into smelting lead ingots, casting bullets, and reloading. Expanding my bread making repertoire and maybe some different home brewing. I don't drink alcohol, but would like to learn ginger, root, and birch beers.

Oh, and tanning, sewing, fermenting pickles and cabbage.

I have all the bullet casting components, but I haven't tried it yet. Thats one thing I want to try this winter too (except all of my reloading and casting equipment is in the garage, which is only heated by propane tank heater and an electric one. Insulation sucks, so it's a bit tough to warm up in there. I want to load some .223 and 9mm. All I've ever loaded so far, about 200 rounds, is 45 ACP.

Did you buy them all planning on casting or were they handed down to you?

I'm finding it pretty difficult to find scrap lead that isn't at a premium price, I thank California and Washington for that. We are headed to the public gun range next week with some rakes to try our luck at finding range lead.

I'm going to work on my leather skills. I have a pair of winter moccosins in the works and will be ready to start working on some knife sheaths, (wink, wink, KVR), more hitching. I'm hoping to continue to evolve my design skills
