Thinking about buying a 5000w Honda Generator through a government auction. The listing says motor runs, but it's not generating. Any idea what that could/would be and the cost to repair? Something minor or something that would basically cost to repair what a new generator would run?
I was talking to my dad about this last night, it's basically going to be a gamble for you. It could be something as simple as a broken wire to needing to replace the whole generator. I would just get a new one or hit up craigslist, will be interesting to see the used market now, usually after a storm people sell their generators on craigslist cause they didn't need them, I don't think you will see this this time

Found LOTs of decent ones on CL. All pretty much out of my price range. If silver was higher, I would consider selling some to get me one. 5000w-6000w generators going for 600-1000. Most are supposedly low use.
For us, it's a prime time to buy a CL generator. We were supposed to get hit hard by Sandy (so everyone stocked up) and we didn't (so now everyone ones to unload barely used generators)
