That is what brought my electrician friend down here.
Was doing high end electrical work for science labs and working lots to be that guy who owns the house, cottage and two cars kind of thing.
He is remarried now to a nice CR lady and not regretting the move in the slightest.
Most of all it comes down to forgetting what is acceptable to you where you came from and realizing you are now a immigrant. This is the biggest things to get over, the differences between upbringing and day to day ways of doing things.
I was always a big believer that if you do not like the country then either do something about it or leave.
I left.
If you want to live high end down here with the coastal view from the pool or from your wraparound deck. With everything to the same standards as you would expect from a 5000 sqft house then with a maid and everything else (1 or 2 kids) you are looking at around 2k a month.

I would suggest going through what frustrates you about travelling to begin with.
Is language a barrier, shoddy internet? Once you know what things you are willing to sacrifice for your new life it makes the list a lot shorter.
Yes, the whole World is broken. It is just that some places are so behind the times that you do not notice how the rest of the World is affecting things.
Right now Nicaragua and Costa Rica are receiving a lot of expats from the States. Lots of pmc, military have chosen this area to raise their families.
