not sure if you guys have ever seen these before, i've been here in s.e. asia for a decade and they are new to me.

happened across them in the typical roundabout fashion, looking for cheap pumps to irrigate my golf course with the river water that flows 3/4ths of the way around it. that led me from one page to another where i ultimately ran across this pretty informative piece about chinese wheelbarrows. apparently they are still in use in laos, cambodia and vietnam but i haven't seen one here. i'm going to be on the lookout for one now for sure.

i like the way they balance goods, or people and bags, or even people and more people. it won't handle loose material like a good soil but it seems like for anything else it's a clear win. i could carry stacks of 60ft bamboo with this, but couldn't touch a single piece with a regular wheelbarrow. from the looks of that frame around the wheel, i think it would be real easy to fit a hatchet, pruner and some bottles of water pretty easily.

You could probably put buckets or some other container to hold soil on each side of the wheel to carry soil.

i'm spending a couple of days in laos this week, going to look around for one while i'm there.

i suppose you could use buckets to carry soil, but it still lacks the convenience of a traditional wheelbarrow for loading/unloading.

Wonder if there's much of a market for them in the US?  Wonder if there's an opportunity there?

I would think so, I would get one, wonder how well some one could do making a few and setting up at a farmers market or flea market on the weekends
