I can't get my (city boy) S/O to accept this. And he originally wanted to totally smoother the stacks with tarps, all sides. I wonder how many years before he lets it go... it reminds me of the little I know of parenting, about over-caution for the firstborn, let 'em run wild after a couple more are born.

If the wood is completely covered with tarps, wouldn't that increase the moisture it holds? as well as promote mold growth. We never covered our wood my entire childhood, and never had a problem.

usually it's just tarped over the top and down the side about a foot so air can still pass through

well, learned my lesson on this one, we usually have 2 cords on hand all times, we use one cord, second cord get's rotated on top of new cord, that way we have backup if needed, we needed it this year with how cold it is, we are down to bottom layer, it is a frozen solid mass that won't be thawed till spring gets here, we are out of firewood for the season

looks like a wood shed is on the board for summer project

Sounds like you need to start skinning some logs!

It is standing great and looks good, I just wish there was more wood under the tree. I have started cutting down more dead standing wood to burn. My area is running out of dry firewood, propane, and pellets.
