She's always been pretty suspect of "prepping," but I've always spun it to her in a way that's not paranoid about SHTF or other scenarios. My position has been rooted in the idea that we need to get big corps out of our food supply, use old, traditional recipes for cooking, and eat things that I know are free of harmful chemicals and processing. I explain to her that stockpiling food is more for natural disasters like earthquakes or Volcanic eruption than it is for societal collapse (I really don't stockpile that much, have like a 6 week supply of food.) My gun collection (which she hates) is for fun, not for protection & defense.
She's an ER doctor, so bugging out probably isn't in the cards for her.
However, lately, she's been reading up on GM foods and a bunch of research on the downstream effects of certain medications etc. She started asking me questions like: Do you know where to get things like Organic Flour? How hard is it to bake your own bread? What's the best way to preserve your raspberries?
So, she's starting to believe in the concept of taking control of your own food sources, and finding alternatives to pharmaceutical solutions to health problems. She's even hinted that she may want me to stay at home to build an organic style farm and raise the kids.
Do you guys have any research along these lines that I can pass along to her?

Guess I missed one key part. She's a doctor, and is naturally suspicious of anything I tell her. Getting her to this point has been an uphill battle. She often thinks i'm totally crazy and worried about too much stuff.
She laughs at me for never leaving home without 1) pocketknife 2) handkerchief 3) flashlight 4) wallet 5 cell phone. If we go on a day hike, I always bring a backpack full of survival stuff like a 1st aid kit, extra food/water, compass etc.
jk leroy, with you guys in the pnw I'm surprised just the mt st helens eruption in the past wouldn't be enough, I remember you saying in the past she was hooked by reading one second after, I thought you said you had the deep winter series, if not have her read that, it slower than one second after, but is very specific to your area, she might like it. I will post some sources for some of the info I have later.
as far as documentaries she can watch that deals with food and health, there is food matters, forks over knives, food inc, future of food, fat sick and nearly dead, and king corn. Most of them are on the health forum here or are available on netflix

I got my wife on-board by telling her that I would probably have to "take her out" when the SHTF. I told her she isn't mentally prepared and we probably can't wait for her to adjust. I have asked her to choose a way that she would like to go out. Kind of a weird conversation to have. I suggested about 42 different ways that I would feel comfortable doing it.
I think she is on-board now and happy to be on my team.
