Michigan. If I could find a nice cocker, terrier, or smaller shepherd (corgi) I think I would have picked it up by now. I have a wife and small children -- she wants us all to meet a dog before I pick it up. We can only do that on the weekends... and by then they are usually adopted. Boo.

No way! I'm from Grand Rapids, MI too. Grew up there and also in White Cloud, about an hour north.

Haha! Our place is a little north of White Cloud. There is a dog shelter in White Cloud that I have kept my eye on but they never have what I am looking for. PM in bound...

So I made a Craigslist post a few days ago about looking for a dog for our young family and to protect the homestead. I got a call from a woman who has been breeding some mixes of shepherds (Malinois, German, etc.) and some huskies for temperament for use on their farm and with their kids. She has an 8 month old pup she has been raising for her daughter. Introducing it to babies, kids, chickens, cats, etc. and training it to keep away coyotes, possums, raccoons, etc.

Well, long story short, the daughter can't take her and she wants the puppy to go to a good home. She gave me a ring and I am going to pick her up tomorrow. She is not spayed and needs a rabies vaccine but she is up to date on all other shots, is house trained, crate trained, and stays close to their house without a leash. Will grow to be between 50 and 60 lbs. She sounds perfect. Pictured on the left below. "Spirit".

Looks like an 8 mo old german shepherd with a mainly black face. I will take some pics when we get her and post them.
