Thanks for the information.
It is the kind of stuff I was looking for. As for the counties, I copied the wrong list. We are interested in finding out more about the UP and its counties and if we end up crossing the UP off our list the other counties is where we were looking next.
Does anyone know the land prices between the two areas and what to look out for when looking at land in each area?
Thanks again.

If you are interested in really remote homesteading, then the UP is for you. Personally, the last counties on your list would be the first ones on mine.

As far as the UP counties go, Luce, Chippewa and Mackinac counties are low, rocky forests; Schoolcraft, Delta, Alger, and Menominee are lowland swamp and forest (this is where I do most of my hunting and fishing); all of the other counties to the west are rocky, low mountains (the Porcupines) with really dense forests and are the most remote.
BTW we downstaters have a joke about there only being two seasons in the UP. Snowmobile season and black fly season.

We got beaches
Touching on four of the five Great Lakes, the two land areas of Michigan give the state a shoreline of 3,288 miles, second in length only to Alaska. Michigan also supports over 11,000 lakes. Michigan's two separate land areas are called the Upper Peninsula and the Lower Peninsula
and Michigan State.

And for people reading this that don't know. This is just friendly banter. I have known ash online for a long time and totally respect what he is doing. I will give him Rashad. I can not claim a former ufc champ. And ash has trained with him, he can post a pic if he wants. But imo lobster out trumps Rashad!
