Feel good type article, but an interesting read.

I wish more of the articles would address practical matters....like how the new Heath care laws and associated costs effect their operations. Are they using Medicaid. What happened when the last emergency struck and how they dealt with it.

I have a sneaking suspicion that some folks have traded one set of chains for another. verifiable numbers are rarely discussed...seems like its kryptonite.

interesting read, health care costs are my number one concern as I get older, not sure what their income is, they mention they live on 10,000 a year, that would put them in poverty level and heavily subsidized health care I would imagine

The better off broke thread here:
http://thehomesteadi.....ead3859.1/

Kinda reminds me of this..... anecdotal. Doesn't really give me a warm fuzzy feeling cause there are elephants in the room and no ones addressing them....on purpose.

Conversely, when I look at your house building thread, there is a cost breakdown, a documented process (including mistakes made along the way), and a follow up sometime down the road.

Anywho, I want to know how much, if any, government entitlements come into play with their way of living. I would have an issue with it if I'm subsidizing it.

And the monkey presses the button.

elephants like health care and the claim an author makes 10k per year and carries no debt....or like dealing with taxes on property, self employment tax, an accumulation of belongings and the maintenance expenses on these items and machinery.

the point is, i suspect, that many of our self reliant messiahs aren't. i think that many are dependent on the kindness, labor and income of others to an extent that rarely gets explained or itemized.

i find the message difficult to accept without the numbers. i fear their reliance on govt and entitlements bears looking at.

And the monkey presses the button.
