Anyone have any experience getting rid of these guys? I have so many mounds all over my yard. I'm worried that my garden or greenhouse this year will be damaged by these guys. I also had to redo my main sewage line because, and I believe this since I had no roots or anything else near my line, that these furry pests were the cause.

I have watched multiple videos on cinch traps and those seems to be the way to go. I just dont want to spend money on something that doesnt work.

groinkick had an issue with moles a couple years ago,

http://thehomesteadi.....oly-moley/

we had an issue with a ground hog getting into the coop, so we waited till he had dug a hole and set the trap

an hour later it was done

if you can set a trap on their burrow hole without catching a cat or dog give that shot, just check your local trapping regulations

I had (and still have) so many voles it's ridiculous.  One of them just killed a 1 yr old apple tree I planted last spring.  Our neighbor has an outside cat that does a lot of work for us, but I still have to set traps or risk losing more stuff in either the garden or the orchard.

Setting mouse or rat traps with peanut butter has worked for me.  Best of luck!

Somewhere around time index 26:00 and 30:00 look for the segment on prairie dogs. The whole episode (so far, I got to that far watching myself and thought of this thread) seems to focus on preservation of species for integrated benefits of their natural roles. For the prairie dogs, the premise is that they aerate the soil to the benefit of the land's fertility long term.

While I personally have not experienced such a thing as gophers and might feel similarly exacerbated if I had, objectively speaking, I am inclined towards siding with a perspective and approach of living in harmony with the land and nature, particularly for the purposes of leading a homesteading life.

Just thought that a little alternate perspective might be useful here.
