A good friend of mine is moving about 900 miles away and has been giving us a number of things.  Today I went over and got some garden tools and stuff...but the best by far was the Mantis.

Last week I went over and took 30 some pair of shutters that were up in the carriage house. About 75% of them were original to the old farm house.  They have a great color and the 'up and down' parts work on them.  They are mortise and tendon with wood pegs.  About 59inche tall by 18inches wide.

Not sure how we will use all of them...there are another 10 sets that I can grab, but they are in a loft that is hard to maneuver in.

The ideas we have...in the new place we are thinking of pressure washing some and making a folding screen...might put a set or two on the inside of the living room windows for decoration, but white wash them first.

I might sell a few sets, I have seen them get $75 for a decent set.

One cool thing with these...the original ones are marked with crisp chisel marks of Roman Numerals...to identify who made them or the order they were made?..I haven't figured out a pattern with them yet.

I thought we could even make a cool head board out of them and maybe sell it on-line...

Just couldn't leave them there.

I've tried them on our land once, must be too much clay, all the thing did was skip on the ground. I'm going to try it on the mulch beds in the spring.

They are handy in the wife's flower beds for navigating around her dainty flowers. I still with the Troybilt for the vegetable gardens.
