Heart sick and angry | General Homesteading Discussion | Forums

We have been living on our property for 7 months and slowly getting it ready for the septic and then we were going to build a cabin. Well in may we received a complaint because we were still in our RV and some of the neighbors did not like it, we went to the building and planning dept. that day and payed more money to update all our permits (even though we had till July) to make sure we were legal while there we were told no cabin we had to have a home of at least 700sq ft and an alternative septic, ok we figured things out and redid our budget foolishly thinking everything was ok. Yesterday I received a notice that I have until the 11th of July to get rid of my goats because our lot is less then 1 acre and only 1 goat is allowed per 1/2 acre. I have tried so hard to make this place better we keep all of our animals in safe pens, unlike our neighbor who lets there dogs run loose. I have health issues that keeps me from working so I'am always available for the animals or if anyone were to want to talk about concerns involving my animals. I feel that since these people keep turning us in without talking to us first they must have something against us I just cant think of what we could have done.

Thankfully my daughters bio- father is going to keep my does until we can figure something out, I know they do not want us here so my husband and I have decided that we are going to figure out a way to buy the empty acre next to us so I can legally have my 3 adults. I wanted to move but really it is impossible we sank all our money into this place,and my husband has convinced me that buying more and doing every thing by the book will erk them more if they really do want us to leave, I however really am considering painting all future buildings rainbow colored so that it erks them just a bit more.

I guess what I am trying to say is if you plane on homesteading get to know the neighbors before you buy.
