Curious if this person/couple did find their 'next' location? I spent my childhood summers on the northern CA coast which made me never want to live there (too damp and cool year round). After checking out most of the western states we were surprised to discover that Siskiyou county (just below Oregon border mid state east-to-west) was not only more attractive for us but priced better than we found in any other location!

But price isn't THE determining factor - one needs to know your desires and limits for weather (hot/cold, dry/wet), population density (no vs. lots of people), min. 'resources' in immediate/surrounding areas. etc. etc. And its also a dang good idea to understand resale reality where ever one moves to in case nirvana ends up Hades after a while.
