Hi everyone, I've got some basic questions about land buying that hopefully someone here can help me with. What is the best way to find land for sale? I've tried doing some internet searches, but I don't get the impression I'm looking at many of the total listings. Are there any reputable real estate sites that people know of to search in various parts of the country for land for sale (looking for wooded, probably in the neighborhood of 50+ acres).

Also, can someone explain in simple terms generic zoning laws as I realize they will vary by location? If land is located outside of city limits can you build a permament residence on it?

Here is a guide from mother earth news.

I was looking for another article I had read a while back that I found very detailed but entirely US centric. If I can find it again I will toss it up here.

BT, this is probably the best site out there for looking for land, you can be very specific for your needs

Zoning is very specific based on state and county. What are your goals? Do you have a location in mind? If you want to pm me the area you are thinking of, I can research it for you and let you know what you are allowed to do
