this thread is to come up with some ideas to make money to free up your time to focus more on your goals in life. my personal goal is within 10 years to retire and get away from running our restaurant. My goal is to generate 1200 a month income which will be more than enough for us to live on by that time in our life.

I came across this book that shows how to start a home based seed selling business, I haven't read this yet but it has actually been something I have been thinking about, I have a good source for seeds, so I am going to research this. The book is currently free for the kindle

i always thought jere gettle's (from baker creek seeds) story was interesting. he grew up in the Adirondacks and was fascinated with seeds and saving seeds. his childhood hobby is now his life's work. his personal mission is to save agricultural heritage in wartorn areas like the balkans, the middle east, and the former soviet republics. he now owns three brick and mortar storefronts, has a "heritage village" at his store in missouri, publishes a monthly magazine, and has a book in print.

What about developing a DVD series that teaches others to Homestead? You could travel and teach seminars. A cheaper way than selling DVD's would be selling a downloadable video series.

I would actually like to learn more about barter and trade skills versus cashing out.

good idea V, what skills could you barter? I have a loose knit group of people I barter and trade items with now, I usually trade some of the wine I make with some local farmers for meat and such. The restaurant I have bartered and traded gift certificates for some equipment I needed, I got a 1500 dollar ice machine for 600 in gift certificates, he was happy with the trade, I guess I could barter construction work
