I think pioneer woman is a great example of that

For some reason she really annoys me.

There are a ton of web sites and you tube videos/channels on homesteading...I admire people putting themselves 'out there' showing what they are doing/trying...like anything, some stuff is good and other stuff makes me think 'that guy is gonna die'.

I do think that the magazines/web sites/videos all help to elevate and motivate many people...still, that being said there are a lot of 'lost' people out there, the so call dreamers or those that think they are trapped...none of this comes easy and it takes time...you do it and make it happen because you have a passion and joy in it...very few have a ton of money to buy the farm, the tractor, build the eco-house, get the animals all going within a year and be featured on a tv show or magazine cover.

Inspiring, sharing some experience and learning is what I hope people get out of the multiple resources...hey even if someone just starts planting a tomato plant in a pot on their deck, that is moving forward...me, I am going all out building the house this year, I figure it might be fun to go nuts getting overwhelmed with a huge project...after all, something has got to push me over the edge of sanity, why not a house build.

oh it will gravel, it will!

I agree with you, I think the biggest issue is that a large majority of what is out there is just so perfect, very rarely are failures or the hardships shown, which leads people to get frustrated when they try and mimic what they see.
