I could. Up here things range from a nice high mileage truck to a rust bucket that is falling apart. The need to title the vehicle and carry insurance is a slight hesitation. I am still trying to think things through -- also waiting on hearing about the tractor that we rolled. That would have been the perfect tool.

here in Maine you can have a plow truck that you don't need license or insurance on, it's just a piece of crap to plow the driveway with

Yeah, I figure I don't *need* it but I would want the ability to go haul stuff from the hardware store or tow something.

Here is something that is tempting. High mileage and would need to buy a plow but looks pretty clean.

Have you considered a regular snowblower? How big an area do you need to clean out?

What about buying a lawn tractor with a snowblower on the front of it?

Don't tempt me!

The dirt road is 1/2 mile long and I think a little too rough for a lawn tractor with a snowblower. I have never used one but I read that it is less than ideal if the surface isn't flat. Plus it would be slow :)

I think I need to work through why I want to get rid of the 8N. Because it can be hard to fix? Can't park it in my barn? It has a high ground clearance, I have tire chains and a backblade for it, and I already own it. I guess I want something different and something that is easier to plow with or just drive in general. E.g. my wife can't drive it.

Not sure if I should just suck it up and plan to put tire chains on the 8N and put a snow plow light on it. A truck would be nicer since it would get me out of the elements -- that isn't a requirement, however.
