New ~$1500 which includes the mount for your vehicle, rotate mechanism, and plow assembly. There is one used near me for $800. I was hoping to find one much cheaper. We'll see if I can find it. Next up is a lightweight poly plow that lifts -- but instead of being ~100lbs all in attached to your vehicle it is closer to 300 or 400lbs. That is a big difference and would probably require beefing up the front end.

one other thing I thought of, not sure if a 5 speed trans would be a issue, but google the truck and plowing transmission problems. We have a 2001 silverado that we use for plowing and 2 years ago we lost reverse. Seems it is a normal issue for them, the constant forward and reverse causes some band in the transmission to snap and we had to have the whole thing rebuilt. And this was the heavy duty package for plowing. I was a little mad

Good advice. I have read that a manual is not ideal for plowing but can work out OK if you don't slip the clutch too much. It is probably hard to imagine but I think I will be doing very little backing up. Last year it was more of a drive forward with the blade tilted for a mile type of things.

I am not sold on trading for a truck but I can see some benefit too it. I don't like the unknown cost of adding a snow plow when we have a baby coming (any day now!) and other projects to take care of. If my 8N had a cab available I would probably go that route, but 8N cabs are rare and look like it wouldn't solve much.

I was just using the tractor last night to skid logs in a small space. I think I am going to miss that benefit of it.

Yeah, I think you'd miss the 8N... Best of luck on whatever you decide to do there.

Yeah, just used it more tonight. Hard call.

I also checked out the Ranger. Decent shape for the age (1994) and is what I am looking for in a truck. If I can arrange delivery the guy will make the trade. Need to figure that out -- it may be cost prohibitive.
