An Orlando man is fighting city officials to keep his vegetable garden in his front yard.
You have to step over radishes, wax beans and kale to get to Jason Helvingston's front door in College Park.
However, his 25 x 25 foot micro-irrigated vegetable garden is against city code, and the city of Orlando has asked Helvingston to dig it up by Wednesday.

We had a similar battle in Canada this summer where a couple in Quebec had made a beautiful front yard garden. They were originally told it had to go, but after much attention the bylaw was not enforced, and potentially put up for review.

I have my gardens in my front yard. That's where the sun shines. I see peoples hidden gardens all the time.

city normally wins in cases like this. We have seen more and more of these charges filed against homeowner's. Land of the Free!
