We are going to do repairs, better fencing, a small garden just for us most likely,...we just need to get things "handled" this season. I find that often after a couple years of really concentrating on growing, other things fall into disrepair, so we need to concentrate on that this year.

Re: the hugel beds.... Large chunks of wood decompose more slowly so nitrogen loss is not so much of an issue. Its a bigger issue with sawdust or wood chips which decompose much faster and deplete your nitrogen. I'm doing a modified hugel type here too. :-)

Our first garden up here! I'm a bit leary due to the predicted long winter.. I'll be sad if it's a bad corn, etc. year for lack of growing season. We're also down 2 zones from what I'm used to.
