Our well water has a slight sulfur odor/taste to and as such we have been buying Ice Mountain spring water for drinking for the past 2 years. We just installed the Berkey and love it -- the taste of the water is amazing. The only problem I can see is if the bottom reservoir is full and you fill more water into the top it will leak where the two halves of the Berkey meet? I've got to figure that out but everything else is gravy.

You learn to eyeball how much water to add. Like if I use it to fill my coffee pot in the morning I just add that much back in the top. It becomes second nature after a while. And yes if u overfill the top it runs out all over the place, lol. I do that every once in a while even after 15 years!
Have used mine continuously 15 yrs. Baby those ceramic elements and you get years out of them making it very cost effective!

I think we are going to buy the glass spigot deal for it that shows the water level. Only $30.

We love ours. When we bought our house, some guy came over trying to sell us some kind of filtering system. He did all these tests on the faucet water showing it had stuff in it. I poured some out of the berkey and said this is what we drink. He didn't have much of an argument for the sale after that.
