If you like this, you might enjoy the book "the One Straw Revolution" by Masanobu Fukuoka.

I just finishe reading it again after many years. It pretty much sums up my farming philosophy. In fact the man that I first gardened with learned from mr. Fukuoka.

I watched this a while ago.. I still question the farming of commodities. So rice in this case. Same reason soybean/corn/wheat farmes end up failing or just barely getting by here. You cannot just grow one thing...its just does not work...here or in japan

The landscapes are just beautiful there.

here in thailand it seems that people only know rice or palm oil, rice in the north and palm oil in the south. why in the world would i ever break my back growing and picking rice when i can buy a years supply for my family for just a few hundred bucks?

now avocados on the other hand, or a number of other fruits, nuts and veggies that i can both eat and sell for a premium, ok.
