I have to go through the lights in my JD; they didn't work when I bought it and even if they did, the tractor needs a few additional ones. Looks like a nice project to tackle once the warmer weather hits.

Anyone here having any experience with front mounted snow blowers on compact tractors?  I know they cost a bit, but with 2/8 mile driveway and 130 + inches of snow a year...well, I am looking into it and how well it will work...also looking at a front mounted hydraulic plow blade.

Thoughts?

They work well but as you saw are expensive. Most makes of plow blades and blowers limit the tractor by not allowing a FEL or bucket to be installed. There is a Kubota snow blade available that attaches to the end of the loader arms and, if a quick attach piece is purchased, allows one to quickly switch between blade and bucket. Most snow blowers are hard mounted and don't allow for that.

Could you buy a big 3pt plower for your Ford and just drive it backwards? They also make ones you can use while driving forwards. That cab sure does look nice for being out in the cold.

I love my Ford...will kill me to sell it...I have some seat time with 3pt hitch blowers, just getting to the point where it kills my neck to use them.

Going to get rid of the Ford, it is 3 steps up and we are concerned about being able to climb up into it when we get older.  The machine still has good value and we should not lose money on it.

Looking at a 'large' compact JD that has only one step up, it's a bit smaller overall, and has hydrostatic drive...easier to run and get in the cab.

I used to have a front snow blade on another tractor, it could move snow better than a back blade any day...but no cab with heat.

Do I have a deal for you my friend! 2010 KUBOTA bx2360, around 200 hours with back blade, carry all, under armor, slightly frozen diesel lines, etc.

I anxiously await your reply! 🙂

In all seriousness, what model are you thinking of getting?

JD 3720 is what I like.  JD is the big name around here, my neighbor has about 55 for his farm, sooo...he can get me a deal from the local supplier.

The 3720 is the older model of the 'new' 3046R.  I don't like the 3046R, it has all the new diesel emissions equipment and computer and that special system is only warranted for 1 year...it's not proven and I don't think it's going to work out too well. I can save a lot of money by purchasing a older model that is a few years old.
