So it's squirrel season out here, so I've been doing quite a bit of hiking around the property looking for critters. I figured it would be a good chance for me to scout out a location for my temporary cabin (my home for next year, which will be converted into a workshop when the house proper is complete). I found a really nice spot, up at the top of our hay meadow. it sits right along the tree line, and it's mostly clear so I won't need to fell many trees to get the pad ready. There's access to grid power about 1000 yards away or so, so it's not outside the realm of possibilities to tie into that at some point. It also has a decent spring very close by, so at some point I will probably be trying to tap into that as well. There's no road access, but there are a few derelict logging roads close by I could reclaim... that's probably the plan but for now I'm going to worry about the cabin first.

The view is killer though, I got up there the other morning and it just about took my breath away.

Kvr claimed my spot too?

Looks like we're going to have to settle this...

VIA THUNDERDOME DEATHMATCH!!1!

Srsly tho thanks guys. I'm pretty excited about the location. It's one of the best spots on the property and so far out of the way I will probably be able to game watch / hunt from my front porch. Now I gotta spend this winter saving my pennies for building materials next year. I plan to do a 16x20 frame up cabin w/ a loft using concrete piers as opposed to laying a pad down. I'm hoping I can get the shell done for 5k or so. I'm pretty stoked about it!

thems fighting words bro

I would price out pouring a slab vs the piers and wood framing, by the time you add up the cost of the wood, plywood, insulation ect, you might find the slab to be cheaper
