Would be great to see this happen...but, yeah the ATF is not likely to go along with it.  Seems Ironic that some areas are allowing marijuana now and the Idea of home Distilling isn't okay even though beer, whiskey, ect.. is already legal in all states...maybe this should fall under state rights vs. fed.?

There may be a legitimate argument in that if done improperly, distilled spirits can wind up actually being methanol rather than ethanol. methanol metabolizes into formaldehyde in the blood stream over a period of several days.

I get your point but it's pretty insane that even freezing distillation is illegal, it all comes down to tax money

It's pretty simple to distill things...I know there is a risk of going blind or blowing things up...stuff can always happen...which is more dangerous...home distilling or using a chainsaw?...I don't know...if people don't take the time to learn how to use tools/equipment then bad things can happen...My point is that anything done improperly can cause damage...seems like the politico's try to protect us too much from ourselves now a days (while they line their own pockets).

The following users say thank you to Gravel Road for this useful post:

I agree 100%. I don't feel like its the government's job to protect us from ourselves through legislation. I just played devil's advocate in my post above because it's the argument I know the other side will use. But I agree with you entirely.

DD, are you telling me that I should not be checking the fuel level in the tractor with a Bic Lighter?
