1 hour north of Grand Rapids. Let me know if you ever are in the area and want to buy land. I have a whole laundry list of "what not to do's".

K, I see your point, but there is only so much you can do with certain kinds of land. I like where we live now and I'm not trying to change it too much, but the high water table isn't the greatest and there isn't much I can do about that. Also, we only have ~6" of topsoil and then all sand. Amending the ground and adding to it would be an arduous process. I bet if I looked around I could find similar sized acreage with amendable land for the same price, although there are always trade offs. I bet it wouldn't be as secluded, etc.
jonathco -- any specific area in MI you are looking at?
